One of Jaquet Droz's bestsellers, the Petite Heure Minute watch has lent itself to countless interpretations. For the first time ever in the watchmaking industry, Jaquet Droz has crafted a dial with the ancient art of eggshell mosaic originated in Asia.
Depicted on the 43-cm diameter dial is a vivid picture of an elephant – symbol of wisdom, strength and dignity – in a beautiful landscape of paddy fields, minutely and painstakingly realised with the Vietnamese technique using quail eggshell tesserae.

The tiny pieces of eggshell first have to be sorted by colour, shape and purity until 2000 usable ones have been selected, then hand-assembled one by one onto the red gold dial. It takes approximately 200 long hours to create the scenery, which is then covered with a thin layer of clear lacquer, beautifully contrasted with black onyx sub-dial with hour-and-minute display and red gold bezel.

That's not all. On the back of the watch, you can see the 22-carat red gold oscillating weight powering the double-barreled self-winding mechanical movement Jaquet Droz 2653, providing 68 hours of power reserved, hand-engraved in relief with an elephant. The limited edition collection of eight watches will without doubt go on the wish list of Jaquet Droz watch collectors.
