Longines has long had close connections to the equestrian world, and to mark the Year of the Horse, it has presented a beautiful pocket watch in pink gold, the Longines Equestrian Lépine, based on the 1927 Lépine watch currently displayed at the Longines Museum in Saint-Imier, Switzerland. The watch is 49.5 millimetres in diameter, and it has a manually-wound L506 calibre movement providing hours and minutes, with small seconds on a subdial at 6 o'clock.
The back cover is a true work of art, with a beautifully crafted relief decoration depicting a horse clearing a jump. The decorative effect of the piece is enhanced by the beautiful ornamentation on the sides and bow, again based on the 1927 original. The watch has an intriguing period effect, suggesting both power and beauty, just like horses themselves.
Longines' brand ambassadors are selected for their ability to embody the brand's slogan, 'elegance is an attitude.' The latest, joining personalities such as Kate Winslet, Simon Baker, Steffi Graf and Andre Agassi, is Eddie Peng, born in 1982 in Taiwan, who was presented as a Longines ambassador on 6 June 2014. One of Asia's greatest film stars of the new generation, he has recently finished filming for Rise of the Legend, in which he plays kung-fu master Wong Fei Hung. His dedication to acting is such that before a film, he spends months preparing both physically and mentally. A role model for fans all over Asia, his is the perfect match for Longines' values. The ideal Ambassador of Elegance... on a par with horses.
