Attending the Salon International de Haute Horlogerie in Geneva is always exciting for Luxos, because it marks the beginning of a great year. SIHH is where the world press and international buyers preview the fine watchmaking masterpieces, which will be sold in boutiques starting autumn 2011. So you can imagine the buzz surrounding this important fair.

Most watch brands participating in the SIHH are over a century old; while some brands are trailblazers in the world of horological wonders. Year after year, they come up with innovative materials and techniques, showing just how fascinating the measurement of time can be.

Daring complications surprise watch editors and collectors, while beautiful jewellery watches stir up much passion by combining both stone-setting craftsmanship and watchmaking know-how. Whether you are a watch enthusiast or just someone who is starting to get into luxury watches, our coverage is unmissable.

In January 2011, 18 maisons will be presenting their new horological pieces. Given their long, illustrious history, a number of brands is distinguished by their iconic collections. There are notable innovations, but 2011 will not be a year of very radical departures from the canons of fine watchmaking. Some maisons are renewing their commitment towards their historic models, for example Audemars Piguet with its Millenary collection, IWC and its Portofino, Jaeger-LeCoultre with its Reverso, and so on.
