This year's Baselworld saw many novelties including Blancpain's Fifty Fathoms Bathyscaphe inpired by the maison's 1953 model, famous as being the predecessor of modern diving watches. This model was inspired by Jaques Piccard's underwater explorations during the later 1950s. This model was also worn by Jacques-Yves Cousteau in the 1956 film 'The Silent World.'

The new model is a reinterpretation of this classic, integrating the latest technological innovations to meet the demanding requirements of today's divers.
