Hermès and its timeless equestrian world

by 12 June 2012

Hermès just came out with a beautiful mechanical pocket watch, the Arceau Pocket Amazones, featuring the traditional art of grand feu enamelling. The equestrian scene depicted on the dial was inspired by writer Henry d'Origny, who designed an Hermès tie in 1978. The vivid details on the face of the watch - the coat of the horse, the horsewoman riding side-saddle and so on - have been brought to life by keep firing the enamel at around 800 °C. The gold spangles on the ground are applied one by one for a sparkling effect. Behind this magnificent dial is the mechanical self-winding H1928 movement with the exclusive Hermès decorative 'H' motif.
