PARIS - Legendary department store Le Bon Marché rings in its 160th anniversary this year on Paris' Left Bank. But, 2012 is also a significant year as the LVMH-owned shop marks the beginning of its five year renovation. The planned revamp will increase Le Bon Marché's size by 43,000 square feet, better connect its retail part to its gourmet food store Le Grande Epicerie de Paris and expand the basement menswear section by 30% to include space for concierge, barber and shoeshine services, more accessories, books and electronics (to make shopping more fun) and direct access to a new wine cellar.

The shop-in-a-shops will also undergo changes with Louis Vuitton's slated to double in size and the addition of new Fendi, Prada and Celine spaces. The department store's official anniversary celebrations will span from September through December of this year with limited-edition collections designed by the likes of Diane von Furstenberg and Fendi.
