The Cara Phenomenon
It has been a busy few months for muse of the moment Cara Delevingne who it would appear, is far more than just a pretty face and pair of eyebrows. Beyond the catwalks and AW 14 campaigns (Chanel, Mulberry, Burberry and Topshop), the twenty two year old has designed a capsule collection for DKNY, posed with Kate Moss for the My Burberry fragrance campaign (above), shot two Vogue covers, is reportedly planning a music career and has turned her hand to acting, set to star in a new TV drama. But our favourite string to Cara's talented bow has resulted in her much awaited range of handbags for Mulberry. Just in time for a new season purchase, Cara's bags are the ultimate in versatility, effortlessly transforming from a hand held to a shoulder strap to a rucksack. So with three bags in one, this is a nifty little piece of arm candy well worthy of a new season splurge. Add to this, tabloid reports of Cara being in the running for a leading role in the new Zoolander movie, is there really no end to this girl's talents?
Barbie has received some serious style makeovers in her time but her latest reincarnation as Barbie Lagerfeld might just take the style biscuit. Dressed in the French designer's signature uniform – black suit, tie and shades, fingerless gloves and white ponytail, Barbie is unleashing her androgynous side for autumn. With a limited production of only 999 dolls, you will have to act fast if you want to add Barbie Lagerfeld to your collection. She will be available during Paris Fashion Week (from September 29th) from Karl Lagerfeld boutiques, Colette, thebarbiecollection.com and Net-A-Porter.com.
Fast food fashion
Last season we were clutching onto the fruit bowl with juicy lemon slice handbags and watermelon clutches, but for autumn it is the turn of supermarket staples and fast food favourites. While the luxury of a Chanel supermarket as witnessed back at Paris Fashion Week might not be on the weekly shopping agenda, sporting a rather playful Moschino special edition McDonalds inspired dress and skirt combo or Coca Cola inspired slogan tee is this season's answer to fun everyday chic.
The British capital has quite the fashion calling, with not only Roksanda Illincic recently opening her very first store on the prestigious Mount Street in Mayfair and soon to be followed by Christopher Kane's inaugural store later this year, but London Fashion Week favourite Erdem has also announced the opening of his debut store on neighbouring South Audley Street. The brand, a favourite with the Duchess of Cambridge is set to open its 2,000 square foot store in Spring 2015 to coincide with its 10th anniversary. "I'm so thrilled to be opening my first store. London was a natural choice. It is where I am based and where I trained to do what I do," commented Erdem. A black cab to Mayfair it is.
