Harry Potter first edition copies worth up to 50,000 dollars

More than J.K. Rowling bargained for!

by 04 March 2014

Before realising the effect her books would have on the world, J.K. Rowling published only 500 copies of the first edition book of the Harry Potter and the Philosopher’s Stone from the Harry Potter series.

The 500 copies were released in 1997, 300 of which were given to the British library system for circulation and the remaining 200 were sold or given out for press.

If you happened to have bought one of these 500 initial copies of Harry Potter, today, they are worth up to 50,000 dollars, depending on their condition, both signed and unsigned.

Definitely food for thought!
