The 26th Biennale des Antiquaires is happening now in Paris through September 23, showcasing 122 galleries with some of the world’s most exquisite fine jewellery, watches, art, and antiques. This year’s set, designed by Karl Lagerfeld, creates a miniature Paris inside the Grand Palais. Coupled with the high-arched glass ceilings, this is the perfect setting to highlight the art and jewellery exhibited within.
As you peruse the mini-storefronts of Chanel Haute Joaillerie, Dior, Van Cleef & Arpels, Chaumet, Boucheron, Harry Winston and more, be sure to look out for Bulgari, who has returned to the fair after 26 years of absence, exhibiting the diamond tiara that made the maison famous.
Van Cleef & Arpels are displaying their latest collection, created specially for the Biennale, titled “Palais de la Chance.” Running concurrently with the Biennale is another Van Cleef & Arpels exhibition “L’Art de la Haute Joaillerie” at the Musée des Arts Décoratifs in Paris. Dior’s collection designed by Victoire de Castellane is absolutely stunning, as is the collection by Chinese designer, Wallace Chan.
Making an impressive debut into the world of the Biennale, Chan’s colorful, creative use of precious gems is beyond gorgeous. Displaying over €230 million of fine jewellery themed on The Path to Enlightenment, Chan drew inspiration from his love of nature and humanity.
American vintage fine jewellery expert Siegelson is also taking part in this year’s fair, with a stunning and rare collection of vintage jewels. Chanel’s exhibition is focused on their glittering Étoile collection, while Piaget displays some impressively beautiful draping diamond necklaces inspired by haute couture.
Also exhibited amongst the fine jewellery is an astounding collection of antiques and fine art. From original paintings by masters such as Picasso, Cézanne, and Renoir, to artifacts dating back to the 3rd millennium B.C., there is something for everyone at the Biennale.
