Originality in wearing luxury Featured

Relaxed elegance is the name of the game, featuring rings and watches.

Nothing says luxury better than a designer watch or a delicate jewel. But real luxury knows no bounds. No one should tell you when or where to wear your most prized possessions. In fact, those in the know will sport a diamond necklace with a white cashmere blend t-shirt, or their chunky precious stone maxi ring with a pair of baggy jeans. It’s all about relaxed elegance. Gems are out of the safe and mixed in with everyday objects, becoming part of our day to day comings and goings, whether it is getting a latte in Starbucks, a Coca-cola can out of a vending machine or sitting down to check our email on a Mac computer.

When it comes to maxi rings, we love the ones from Italian luxury brand Pomellato. Choose them from their exclusive Pom Pom line if you are looking for ‘one of a kind’ pieces. A word of warning: they have unique rings that you will fall in love with on the spot. The stones they use in this collection range from pink sapphires, to brown diamonds, to rubies, and they are mostly set in white gold.

American jewellers Tiffany & Co. also do chunky rings in every colour that can be easily worn by day with a casual look. Team them up with one of their wide silver bangles, for an edgier rock chic feel.

If you like smaller rings, our advice is to wear more than one on the same finger. This is one of the big trends in jewellery right now. We love Pomelatto’s Veleno designs in pink gold with amathist, smoky quarz, and blue topaz and their Nudo collection in white or pin gold with pink quartz and white topaz. Mix and match them as they can be twisted to fit perfectly on the same finger. Necklaces are delicate and colourful. Amongst our favourites are the ones from Cartier’s Délice Collection, set in white gold with diamonds, rubies, pink quart stones, and pink tourmalines, amongst others. Team it up with a crisp shirt by day or a Little Black Dress by night. Watches are back in all sizes and with a touch of colour in the strap, for the summer. Some of our picks are IWC and Panerai for him and for her. But those of you who like to keep to black and white, go for Chanel’s minimalist J12 watch with their signature ceramic bracelet.
