What to wear this Christmas: Part One

Wherever you are in the world it is time to get out and get shopping for you. Here is the LUXOS guide of where to buy your favourite winter wears.

The festive season is without a doubt a time of giving, but amidst all the present buying and merry making for others, why not do something just for you - treat your wardrobe to the style it deserves. Whether it is a bold statement necklace, a pair of animal print ankle boots, a leather skirt or a glitzy party dress, indulge yourself in a winter wonderland of fashion...

LEATHER

This winter your wardrobe needs leather. For the style shy, a leather biker is the simplest way to wear leather but for the more adventurous, leather skirts and trousers are the way to go. For demure ladylike (yes leather oozes sophistication this season) go for a below the knee or calf length leather skirt or for a cool and louche appeal, opt for a pair of wide legged leather trousers.

Where to buy: Florence, Italy

Italy produces some of the finest leather in the world and Italian designers Gucci, Emilio Pucci and Salvatore Ferragamo all showcased gorgeous leather separates on their AW14 catwalks. Splurge on Salvatore Ferragamo's leather knee high boots and pleated leather skirt at their flagship store in Palazzo Spini Feroni, treat your pins to Emilio Pucci's gathered waist army green leather trousers (20-22 Via Tornabuoni) or for the ultimate in new season leather splash the cash at Gucci Museo (10 Piazza delle Signoria) with the Florentine designer's medley of soft supple leather skirts, dresses and trousers in greens, browns and pastels.

FAKE FUR

Unless you have been living under a rock, you should know by now that fake fur is the way to keep warm this winter. A fun pastel or bright coloured chubby coat, long and sophisticated shaggy grey fur or simply a furry stole or scarf will pep up every day jeans and knits, and is a perfect accessory once the sun goes down and the stars shine.

Where to buy: London, England

Home to Selfridges, Harrods, Matches and Browns we are spoilt for designer choice in London. But the city is also renowned for its eclectic fashion and vintage treasures, so why not hunt out some vintage faux fur. Head to Blackout II in Covent Garden (51 Endell Street, WC1) for an Aladdin's Cave of vintage goodies including some fab fur accessories from the 1920s to the 1980s, or perhaps bump into Kate Moss and Lady Gaga at Rellik (8 Golborne Road, W10) who specialise in designer wears from the 1970s to the 1990s.

THE PARTY DRESS

For a new season party dress don't be afraid to razzle dazzle. Think glitz, glamour, feathers, fringing, metallics and a mélange of bright colours.

Where to buy: New York

Head to the Big Apple and you will no doubt become a big spender, especially if you hail a cab to Fifth Avenue and its upscale boutiques. But if you are looking for a bit more variety, lose yourself in SoHo. With its mix of designer stores including Chanel, Balenciaga, Alexander Wang and Rag & Bone, big high street brands, multi brand boutiques such as Piperlime and Opening Ceremony and more bohemian inspired one-off boutiques you are sure to find that wow party piece to stand out from the crowd.

(Don't forget if you're in New York or thinking about a trip, Friday 28th November is Black Friday, which means sales and shopping galore!)
