Women, Fashion, Power
Choosing what to wear to the office might seem like a mundane every day task, but for many women on the world stage, what they wear to work can have a huge impact on their career and power as a woman. A new exhibition at London's Design Museum entitled Women, Fashion, Power looks at this relationship between fashion and power and notion of dressing for success. It features a number of influential women in politics, fashion and business including Naomi Campbell, HSH Princess Charlène of Monaco and Natalie Massenet and explores how they have used fashion to propel their careers and express their personalities.
Women, Fashion, Power opens on October 29th and runs until April 26th 2015. For more info go to www.designmuseum.org
Simone Rocha for J Brand
She is the daughter of legendary designer John Rocha, was crowned emerging womenswear designer of the year at the 2013 British Fashion Awards, and is loved worldwide for her fresh approach to feminine womenswear. And now, the young British designer is making headlines with her 20-piece denim collection for US giants J Brand. Bringing feminine frills and playful ruffles to pink, red and black denim, Simone is making denim girly again. Forget boyfriend jeans, distressed denim and indigo blue, think flashes of colour, duo denims and masculine silhouettes with a feminine finish.
The Simone Rocha x J Brand collection is available at Dover Street Market, London and then on Net-a-Porter.com on November 14th and at Selfridges on December 1st.
Mary Katrantzou for Adidas Originals
Renowned for her signature digital prints and bold designs, sporty is not the first word that springs to mind when you think of Mary Katrantzou. But thanks to her latest capsule collection for Adidas Originals, Mary is no longer sport contrary but sport savvy and making the leap onto the haute-athletic trend treadmill. The collection, which includes a luxe printed bomber jacket, voluminous cocoon dress and neoprene mini all in colour popping abstract prints, may be more boot friendly than boot camp friendly, but if fashion forward fitness is your thing, Mary's pimped up colourful trainers (inspired by 70s and 80s track shoes) will add some seriously stylish credentials to your workout.
The Mary Katrantzou x Adidas Originals collection will be available in stores and on their respective websites from November 15th
Charlotte Olympia Incy collection
Accessory designer Charlotte Dellal continues to keep the goodies coming. If we aren't swooning over her micro mini clutches or new leather handbags or sashaying down the red carpet in her gilded platforms we can also dress our little ladies in our favourite Charlotte Olympia shoes. "Little shoes for little girls" and 'made for incy wincy feet" is how Charlotte describes her Incy collection which includes mini-me versions of your beloved Charlotte O's. We love the kitten slippers and Bisoux flats.
