If you’ve never done such a bizarre thing as count the number of times every brand was mentioned in the HBO TV series, I can save you a lot of time: the most-mentioned brand throughout six series of Sex And The City is….. Vogue. Indeed, Carrie Bradshaw, the show's heroine and narrator, becomes a contributing editor for American Vogue in series four (receiving two dollars a word for her efforts!) and even visits the magazine's office where she accidentally gets drunk after a difficult meeting with the editor, played by Candice Bergen.
And it's thanks to French-based artist Pierre Buttin, who created an amusing video montage of the name checks, and Vogue features an impressive 36 times - while the most frequent fashion mention went, unsurprisingly, to Manolo Blahnik.
Who would have thought counting fashion labels could be so much fun!
This video is 9 minutes 20 seconds and breaks down brand names in alphabetical order. If you listen closely, you will find, as previously mentioned, the most uttered name is Vogue followed by “martini” (34 times), but fashion favourite remains Manolo. The rest of the top ten are: Yankees (26 times), Knicks (25 times), New York Times (24 times), Manolo Blahnik (16 times), Dolce & Gabbana (15 times), Prada and Post-it (14 times each), Chanel (13 times), and Gucci (12 times).
