The most distinctive feature in Alberto Guardiani’s spring/summer 2015 men’s collection is the petrol shine effect, created by means of a special wax application on calfskin. The result is a dark iridescent gleam, very similar to a film of oil on a puddle of water on an asphalt street. Research on materials has always been a feature of the brand, and this season includes interwoven PVC and raffia.
While uppers are often deconstructed by means of perforation, soles are very chunky, as in the iconic Shark’s boot, a name that describes the tread of the sole to perfection. Technology is used to reduce the weight of the shoes, as in some superlight lace-ups and sneakers.
