Vera Wang has launched a bridal collection featuring delicate gowns in satin, lace and tulle best suited for grunge would-be brides in search of unconventional bridal couture.
Instead of a catwalk presentation, Wang posted the collection on her site: a video entitled ‘Chasing Alix’, shot by fashion filmmaker and photographer Gordon Von Steiner, which introduces the ‘grunge bride’ in an eerie and mesmerizing film. Models appear ghost-like, with bleached eyebrows, white mascara and limp hair.
The collection ranges from classic silhouettes to voluminous princess dresses, with empire lines, plunging floor-length halter gowns and drop waists.
The designer said in a release that the wedding dresses are meant to be 'dreamy and edgy, because girls today are edgy. I don't think of bridal anymore as a niche...Hopefully, people will realise that these dresses can be worn for anything,' she said. 'They just happen to be white.'

This isn’t the first time the designer has presented a rather unconventional collection: for her autumn 2014 bridal show, the designer unveiled a sequence of wedding dresses in various shades of pink, while for her spring 2014 bridal collection, stunning traditional white gowns were worn with an unusual accessory: elbow-length black leather gloves.
