British tailoring and style is truly timeless and has been inspiring western sartorialists for hundreds of years. Hackett captures the perfect balance between exceptional tailoring and a sense of contemporary ease effortlessly, and the brand has come a very long way from its beginnings at a small stall on the Portobello Road. The label’s strength lies in its ability to convey the quintessence of British style without ever being old fashioned, which has garnered it some of the most prestigious industry awards including the Walpole Award for “British Luxury Overseas” as well as the prestigious Queen’s Award for Enterprise: International Trade 2012.

The spring/summer 2013 collection reaffirms Hackett’s singular ethos: a thoroughly contemporary approach to classic menswear that feels authentic and new and the selection is as rich as it is varied. The Roaring 20’s theme is a tribute to the elegance of that era and the pieces are tailored in lightweight fabrics and features wider lapels teamed with double-pleated trousers in a breezy palette of pale neutrals from cream to summer white as well as earthier tones of tobacco and mocha. ‘Artist’ is perfect for the chic yet bohemian soul and draws inspiration from that unique momenin history when great artists like Picasso and Matisse roamed the Riviera. The styles are relaxed, in vibrant colours muted by softer hues with a focus on patterns such as the ever-classic paisley. The sportier gent will find designs that fit his modern masculinity in the Boathouse and Desert Rally segments of the collection, that play with styles associated with the very British worlds of boat racing and exploration. More deconstructed and relaxed yet innately elegant, the former is crafted in the colours of the beloved Union Jack while the latter has a slightly tougher edge, in desert-inspired colours such as clay, tan and sand. The Jamaica portion of the collection is imbued with a sense of exotic travel and holidays thanks to floral prints and vibrant colours while maintaining a distinct English flair in the peak lapel blazers and cotton trousers.

With its impeccable design and singular spirit, Hackett is poised to become the world’s leading luxury British style brand.
