Shanghai Tang opens its mansion in Hong Kong Featured

A three-storey flagship, the brand's largest in the world
by 03 May 2012

True to their word, Shanghai Tang have succeeded. After having had to abandon their premises in the Pedder Building in Central, Hong Kong, because Abercrombie & Fitch put in an offer to pay two and a half times as much for the rental, they have opened their new Shanghai Tang Mansion. At 1400 square metres, it is the brand's largest store in the world, with three storeys of multi-sensorial colour. The mansion suggests a Chinese Art Deco building in its design.

On the ground floor, the flagship displays women's ready-to-wear and accessories. On the first floor mezzanine, women's ready-to-wear and accessories, the Imperial Tailoring Atelier, Fragrance Bar, and children & baby. On the second floor, men's ready-to-wear, the Imperial Collection, Polo Collection, and home products.

The store was opened with a party that saw the presence of much of Hong Kong's high society, including Raphaël le Masne de Chermont, Executive Chairman of Shanghai Tang, and the brand ambassadors Hu Bing and Lin Chiling. Other personalities seen were Johanna Arculli, Ronald Arculli, Anike Beilke, Jolie Chan, Fei Ping Chang, Kathy Chow, Diana D’Arenberg, Joseph Fung, Cara G, Denise Ho, Wendy Hotong Bonnie Gokson, Tina Leung, Antonia Li, Amanda Strang, Jennifer Tse, Irene Wang, Almen Wong, and Lynn Xiong.

For a period last year following their departure from the Pedder Building, Shanghai Tang had to adapt to retain visibility in Hong Kong, and from 4 November to 31 December 2011 they displayed their products in yurts – Mongolian tents – in a temporary retail space on top of Central Ferry Pier 4, renamed the Shanghai Tang Mongolian Village.
