Roberta Scarpa Spring / Summer 2012 Featured

Fashion Report from the Venetian designer's latest collection
by

Roberta Scarpa is every bit the artisan as she is fashion designer whose signature mark can found in the Venetian Moretto symbol. They say Italians do it better, but maybe we should hone in on the matter and say Venetians do when it comes to pushing the envelope on experimental, cutting edge designs and techniques for crafting ensembles.

The new women’s collection for Spring/Summer 2012 is romantic, airy and colourful. From classic summer dresses to tweed suits, Scarpa went for a timeless concept where the clothes defy an era, working well in any occasion. What the designer does best is material mixing – cotton, linen, silk and jersey are blended with each other to create unique clothing that cannot be found anywhere else. We love just going through the showroom and feeling the different material textures because they are truly unlike anything out there.

As always, the designer’s beloved Venice is the ever-present muse – this time inspiration derives from the colourful techniques used by the historic Murano glass artists at Venini. Vibrant orange and blue shift dresses partner up with mico jackets and pleated trousers pair with jersey blouses.

Our pick for standout pieces are pieces with a 3-dimensional floral effect design on the fabric and a black knee-length dress that already comes accessorized with an attached pearl necklace. Oh and lest we forget, the new ‘Venetian’ style ultra-light scarves are the perfect finishing touch to wrap around your head for a road trip in your gentleman’s new convertible or tie on your handbag for an elegance flair.
