There was a lot of tanned midriff, sensuous shoulders and colour explosions at the Blumarine spring/summer 2012 women's fashion show in Milan. Anna Molinari takes us on a journey to a techno-coloured Brazil, celebrating exoticism next season. By day, the Blumarine woman chooses a ladylike A-line dress that fits her demurely at the bodice and flares out into a stunning flower bomb palette. Off-the-shoulder tops matched with billowy knee-length skirts are also a favourite combination for those warm sunny days. Molinari cleverly breaks the monotony of bright colours with crisp white pleats in between, matched beautifully with fun tote bags and high heels with cropped, bouncy fringe.
The show took a slight turn and suddenly we saw very cropped biker jackets, hot pants and flirty boots with flower appliqués. The flower theme simply popped in duo neon colours and 2-dimentionality. Hemlines went up on short dresses and hot pants as the tanned models strutted their stuff on the runway to an exuberant, joyful music that made you want to get up and dance.
For the evening, the Blumarine woman chooses beautiful sequined dresses that seem to magnify the flowers of a Monet painting, albeit in techno-colours again. The bright colours are still there, but against a classic black backdrop, they are at once interesting and sophisticated.
For days when she really wants to let her hair down, Blumarine proposes a few unitards and boat neck tops matched with straight trousers - all in beautiful jersey that clings to your figure just right and lengthens your whole silhouette. A pure dark white and then a pure classic black theme completes the vision of the Blumarine woman vacationing in Brazil. “Che lindo!”
