The year was 1910 when Ermenegildo Zegna started his wool mill in the small town of Trivero in Northern Italy.
With innovations in fabric production and a commitment to absolute quality, Ermenegildo Zegna has been successful in sustaining a far-reaching strategic vision that has guided his family to lead the company today to territories unexplored by other major players in the luxury menswear business. One of those places was Turkey two decades ago, when it was a country that was still on its way to becoming the luxury market it is today.
Today, Ermenegildo Zegna is celebrating its 20th year in the Turkish market, acknowledging the expansion and leadership this experience has brought the company by being there first, before any competitors could even see the opportunity. The first Ermenegildo Zegna boutique was opened in 1991 in the Nisantasi shopping quarter. Since then, the brand has been synonymous with absolute luxury and superior quality in the local menswear market.
They opened their second boutique in Istinye Park in 2007, when the economy was booming and Istanbul was fast becoming a major shopping city for travellers. With 14 more dedicated corners in the prestigious luxury retailer Beymen around Turkey, two duty-free boutiques in Istanbul’s two airports and a shirt manufacturing plant with over 400 employees, Ermenegildo Zegna has established a strong presence in the country’s fashion scene.
Just a year after Ermenegildo Zegna’s centennial celebration, 2011 marks the 20th anniversary of the brand’s entrance into the Turkish market. To celebrate this momentous occasion, Ermenegildo Zegna is launching an elite Limited Edition 20th Anniversary collection that includes watches and cufflinks made in collaboration with internationally renowned and prestigious partners like Girard-Perregaux and Tateossian.
In addition to these impressive accessories is a specially designed Ermenegildo Zegna Couture ensemble: an Ermenegildo Zegna Couture suit cut in a 15 micron superfine Australian wool fabric with its own exclusive shirt, regimental tie, Derby shoes and an elegant hand-finished belt in French calf leather.
Ermenegildo Zegna’s commitment to quality and luxury can only be matched by its dedication to supporting causes regarding social justice and the environment. In honour its 20th anniversary, the Ermenegildo Zegna Foundation has pledged to support the Mika-Der Foundation, a local charity that aims to assist children who live in the nurseries and orphanages of SHÇEK ( Social Services and Child Protection). Mika-Der provides children with the chance to engage in sports, music and theatre while giving them psychological and educational support.
