Luscious fabrics, elegant silhouettes and dark tones with splashes of vivid colours swept the runways in Madrid this past March when Roberto Verino presented his fall/winter 2011 collection. Every item, from dresses to coats to handbags, had Roberto’s signature mark – his impeccable craftsmanship.
When he launched his first prêt-à-porter collection in 1982, Verino turned many heads in the fashion world. Two years later he confirmed his position with his first runway show at Cibeles, Madrid’s fashion platform, where everyone of note in Spain’s fashion world was his audience. Since then he has been present on a yearly basis. His fabulous minimalist designs are supremely elegant. His garments are cosmopolitan and unique, ideal for the career woman who recognizes style and wants to leave her mark. Roberto knows women; he understands their needs and is therefore able to produce masterpieces that combine sobriety and style, simplicity and sophistication, modernity and functionality. He is simply incredible!
In 1992, ten years after the launch of his first collection, he opened his first boutique in Madrid, which served as a stepping-stone to the many shops he currently has throughout Spain. This was a fruitful year for Verino, as he won the prestigious ‘Aguja de Oro’ award given annually by the Spanish specialized press to the Best International Designer. He also launched his first perfume, ‘Verino,’ a sensual fragrance with floral and fruit notes.
Throughout his career Mr. Verino has always been driven by a quest for perfection, in fashion, perfumery and other fields. He presented his first eyewear collection in 1997, in 2002 he made his debut in home décor with a ceramics line designed for Saloni Ceramics, a range that is in constant expansion. Showcasing his innate ability to excel in interior décor, every item carries his trademark combination of discretion and flair.
In 2007 he celebrated the 25th anniversary of his brand with a career exhibition at Madrid’s Museo del Traje. The following year, the exhibition was presented at The Gabarron Foundation in New York City.
Year after year his runway shows attain greater heights, attracting crowds in eager expectation of a preview of his superb creations. Verino continues to expand his creative powers on or off the runways, His latest project is a line of bed linen and tableware, launched in early 2011. With the help of architect José Villacé, he has recently restyled his boutiques to reflect his passion for functionality and to present his products to best advantage.
