A contemporary edge on couture
by 21 January 2011

Encompassing the attitude and feel of a big city like New York, the new Emporio Armani fall/winter 2011-2012 collection exudes the confidence of an urban man. The couture line manages a contemporary yet sophisticated edge where contructions are light, shades, cool and the choice of fabrics are functional for the winter season.

The man wearing this line is casually elegant and very real. His taste is simple, stylish and modern incorporating splashes of bold colours here and there but preferring a simple palette for his basic pieces. He holds the ultimate collection for comfort and pure sophistication at work and during leisure time.

This year, shoulders have become less of a focus with softer edges, whilst coat lengths are extended. The construction of coats and jackets are in minute detail including options of double, asymmetrical and stand-up flap collars creating the deconstructed silhouettes seen throughout the wardrobe. Trousers are casual whilst in typical Armani style, waists are emphasised with tailored darts for many of the pieces.

Fabric choice is key to the urban style projected by the collection with heavy use of wool in a range of treatments as well as sheepskin and leather, in keeping with next season’s trends.

The colour spectrum is defined with camels and greys ranging from light to dark with hints of maroon and midnight blue and of course, Armani’s signature black coats and suits.
