Total darkness, then the screen lights up and the music begins… Out parade the first models in oversized outerwear. Coats with tall collars, oversized shoulders in a colorful combination of textures, where black, midnight blue, royal blue, yellow, orange, red, camel and brown predominate.
This collection features an interesting play on textures, wool is worked to seem almost paper-like or foamy; it is also laminated, checkered, brushed and mixed with leather, nylon, vinyl, fur and cotton. A true tour-de-force of tailoring.
Any additions? Burberry are masters in adding a touch of perfection to complete a look with their wonderful accessories. These include ankle boots and shoes in black, brown and white with bold contrasting rubber soles; bags are simple with unique trimmings. Felt or nylon with leather trim, canvas duffle bags with leather details. Travel bags in alligator with wood details and fur. To complete the look – Burberry’s very own aviator glasses.
At the end of the show, even the Milan weather turned typically British, with rain magically falling on the final catwalk procession to demonstrate the waterproofing qualities of the garments.
