The essence of fine dressing
by 18 January 2011

Gianfranco Ferré’s fall/winter collection designed by Tommaso Aquilano and Roberto Rimondi, represents a classic style in fine dressing. Many of this season’s collections have focused on the idea of a British gentleman; each designer bringing their collection into today in different ways and Gianfranco Ferré is no exception.

To juxtapose the formal style and lush fabrics, the collection features recherché silhouettes offset with a rich mix of colours such as navy, dark green and bordeaux. The wardrobe revisits more classic styles of suits using checks, macro pinstripes and twill. The knitwear introduces brighter colours such as yellow, red and green as well as softer blue and beige shades.

Principle silhouettes of the collection include sartorial jackets paired with a slimmer pant and generous coats suited for both business and leisure. The knitwear is designed to be casual while the leather pieces, which include sports jackets and trench coats can be adapted for different occasions.

The collection’s strength is in its versatility as each piece in the wardrobe mixes and matches well, creating different looks that allow individuals to create their own elegant sense of style.
