Premier design jewelry boutique: David Yurman's New York flagship reopens Featured

A three-floor space on Madison avenue
by 27 May 2010

David Yurman, America’s premier jewelry and timepiece designer, celebrated its 30th Anniversary with the rebirth of its Madison Avenue Flagship in New York City this May. This three floor Townhouse, located across from the current Madison Avenue location, will serve as the brand’s definitive home in the city where David Yurman began in 1980.
The new David Yurman Townhouse is located at 712 Madison Avenue at 63rd Street and features three floors and 2,000 square feet of dedicated retail space, housing a vast range of product. The Townhouse is almost three times the size of the previous boutique.

The first floor showcases the complete offerings of the lifestyle brand with a significant focus on the women’s collection. This includes both existing and new collections, with several pieces earmarked exclusively for sale at the Townhouse.
The men’s and timepiece collections are housed on the second floor, echoing David Yurman’s commitment to its men’s jewelry collection. Iconic detail touches, such as classic photography and design inspiration images, create a masculine feel throughout the floor.
A dedicated space on the third floor houses bridal and couture collections, including engagement rings, bridal jewelry, and some of David Yurman’s most important pieces. Unique pieces punctuate the room and offer customers an intimate, one-of-a-kind shopping experience in an intimate and private parlor area, with viewings encouraged by appointment only.

Designed by Gabellini Shepherd Associates, the new retail approach represents the “Home of David Yurman,” providing a window into the jewelers’ world while also establishing a new retail design standard for the brand worldwide. Inspired by iconic American modern architecture of the mid-1900s, the interior is characterized by textured, natural materials, including striated Nublado marble flooring, ceilings of warm American walnut and rich metal finishes like bronze silk mirrors and blackened steel trim. Each element is carefully selected to reflect David Yurman’s background as a sculptor and is a celebration of his artistic legacy. This is especially present in the door handles at the entry to the boutique. David Yurman, inspired by the essence of his iconic cable design, has designed and hand-sculpted the door pulls that will serve as the ultimate greeting to customers as they enter the new Flagship.

This retail approach is demonstrative of David Yurman’s commitment to excellence and innovation and continues to establish the brand at the forefront of the luxury market. The Townhouse will serve as the cornerstone of the David Yurman retail business worldwide, reinforcing the brand’s integrity and overall authority within the industry.
The Townhouse opening celebrates David Yurman’s milestone 30th Anniversary, which continues throughout 2010. A first-ever European shop opening at Paris’s famed department store Printemps in March, along with several additional store openings slated for the year, new collections, and continued growth, are all in store for the iconic American jeweler.

“This is a very special year for us since we are celebrating our 30th anniversary as well as the opening of a very important location for our collections,” said David Yurman. “I’m very thankful to have this new and beautiful space to showcase our work."
