The young and daring 28-year old fashion designer Alexander Wang first made his name a few years ago for his edgy street wear which featured models where smudgy make-up and unmade hair. The designer has recently been named by the House of Balenciaga as the brand’s new Creative Director thus replacing Nicholas Ghesquiere after he resigned from the position last months after working at the House for 15 years.
While Wang is much-loved by the industry, there’s been much press speculation about the decision to place such a young designer at the helm of such a high-end fashion house. Wang is known for his own line which is more cool and casual and has gained him a loyal following ranging from Michelle Obama to supermodel Giselle, even if his main clients are under the age of 30. Wang will go on to debut his new vision for Balenciaga at the upcoming Spring couture shows – an eager fashion crowd will certainly be waiting in anticipation.
