PARIS - An unexepectedly cool and collected Stefano Pilati sat down for a chat at the Louvre last night as a guest speaker for the Musée de la Mode et du Textile. Having just shown his final collection for Yves Saint Laurent last month, the Milanese designer is currently at liberty and willing to go on record.

He had nothing but positive things to say about the maison and his respect for the legacy left to him by Yves Saint Laurent. Pilati also spoke about how he valued working with Tom Ford early on when he was the Creative Director and how he embraced a certain freedom in his designs once Laurent had passed away, that he did not feel able to do while the designer was still living.

When asked what his next steps would be he replied, “Unless I decide to stay on vacation for the rest of my life, I am pretty sure I have the energy and the knowledge at least to try to do something relevant, something that is part of what people need.”
