Tod's founder dies at 87

Dorino Della Valle, the man behind luxury Italian brand Tod's has passed away in Casette d'Ete, Italy. Della Valle (pictured centre here between sons Diego and Andrea) started his business in the twenties from his basement before growing it into a world-renowned luxury goods empire in the seventies. Della Valle is survived by three children. amongst which include son Diego (current CEO at Tod's)

Tod's Group has several brands under it's umbrella which include Tod's, Hogan, Fay and Roger Vivier. Della Valle's passing comes after recent news that Tod's will not be renewing its collaboration with designer Derek Lam, a new Creative Director has not yet been named.

As a sign of respect, ACF Florence's competitive soccer club Fiorentina will not hold practiced for two days and lower it's official purple flag to half mast.
