The launch of new fashion collections have gone in a decidedly high-tech direction. Today at Fendi we saw an industrial-like event space transformed into a massive screening room where 20-odd faceless black mannequins stood one behind the other, in a straight, uniform line down the length of a room surrounded by design screens.

A lot of black, navy blue and hints of white and grey for the future fall season. Clothing was overly formal, but contemporary, urban chic – transitioning well from day to evening. As always the materials are paramount and this time around the brand mixed fabrics for stunning effects. Cashmere, silk ottoman, twill and velvet brocade could be found mingling on the same garment as well as knitwear and leather who teamed up to become the must-have coat for next season.

What we saw a lot of from Fendi for next fall/winter were handbags, large weekender types to store a change of clothes, toiletries and a an iPad – the perfect gift for a tech savvy guy.

Where men should wear these pieces: Travel, weekend, shopping, grabbing coffee, night out, work in a casual dress enviornment
