Karl Lagerfeld unveils his Paris-Bombay Pre-fall 2012 collection for Chanel

Forget summer 2012, the fashion world is way more up to speed than us mere mortals. Evidenced today at the fashion show for Chanel’s Pre-Fall 2012 line. The inspiration was India, but made in France. Ironic, since more and more European fashion houses are turning to India to produce expensive handcrafted pieces. Looks that could pass for an Indian socialite’s glowing wardrobe were in fact created at the hands of Chanel’s Paris ateliers. Overall a stunning collection of raw silk tunics, tweeds lined with pearls and Maharaja-inspired waist coats. The amazing part is that Paris-based Lagerfeld himself has never been to India citing that, “it’s much more inspiring not to go to places than to go.” Perhaps the dream of India kept the mystique and creativity alive.
