The Valentino Garavani Archives are now available online in a virtual museum

Looking for an excuse to spend hours upon hours in front of the computer? We have just the thing for you. Legendary fashion designer and couturier Valentino Garavani has officially launched the Valentino Garavani Archives, a free, not-for-profit virtual museum funded by the designer and his partner Giancarlo Giammetti. The virtual application allows users to browse through the rooms of a palazzo filled with over 5,000 photos, videos and various other documents that tell the story of Valentino’s career in fashion. The website uses real time 3D technology to  organize the designer’s iconic dresses by theme where you can view them in 360 degrees while watching video descriptions where Garavani tells the story behind each dress.

The launch of the site was hosted by actors Hugh Jackman and Anne Hathway at New York’s Museum of Modern Art. Speaking about the site, Valentino’s partner Giancarlo Giammetti remarked how important it is for new generations of aspiring fashion designers. In order to access the virtual museum, you’ll have to download and install a free app directly from the site. Get a first look here below.
