Events - Divino Tuscany, wines in an idyllic setting - 02-02-2012
Divino Tuscany, wines in an idyllic setting
Divino Tuscany, which in 2012 will run from 17 to 20 May, has become a favourite lifestyle event for all those interested in wine. It combines tastings of the finest Tuscan wines, exclusive events in locations that are not normally accessible, art, music, haute cuisine, and many celebrities. Guests perhaps share Salvador Dali's conviction that "true connoisseurs don't drink wine, but taste secrets."
The event is organized by James Suckling, one of the most authoritative international wine experts. The labels comprise Barone Ricasoli, Marchesi Antinori, Castello Banfi, Marchesi di Frescobaldi, Mazzei, Petrolo, Il Borro, and Principe Corsini.
The heart of the event is Grand Hotel Villa Cora, on the hills above the Boboli Gardens, where the inaugural party will take place on Thursday 17 May. This year it will have a Cuban theme, with live music by Ernan Lopez Nussa, and the premier screening of Suckling's films on cigars, "Heart and Soul Cuba." From then on, Divino Tuscany comprises tastings, meetings with wine producers, gala evenings and dinners in private villas. On Sunday 20 May, a fortunate few will be able to lunch at "Villa Sting," also known as Villa Il Palagio.
