Any space needs light to showcase what’s inside. The traditional table lamps have been replaced by a new wave of very prominent fixtures that vary in size from the very delicate and small to the all consuming and large. Some designs centre on the lightbulb itself while others have chosen to explore more subtle ways of brightening spaces via LED technologies and hand-sensory activation. Hanging lights are a strong trend this year. No longer solely suspended above a dining room table or an island kitchen, these lights offer alternatives to the impersonal overhead lights that come with many spaces and are a way to synch the design mood of the furniture with the mood that lighting so easily creates.
