Sahrai is a name closely tied to carpets, by a family tradition that runs back to 1830. That generation of the family began their incessant journeys from their base in the Teheran bazaar to the various Middle Eastern and Asian carpet-making centres, throughout Persia and the Caucasus, in search of the very finest carpets. Later, the quest for rare and high-quality pieces continued even further afield on international markets.
In today's global village, the family is still working in the same sector, but they have added an extra component to their business. They have combined their expertise in the area of Oriental carpet weaving with the sophisticated design and originality of Western interiors. Sahrai in fact now offer their own exclusive handmade carpet collections, utilizing their experience, knowledge of materials and techniques. In-house designers provide the creative input for the study and development of new carpets.
The Sahrai internal design studio is in fact capable of working with creative synergy, combining traditional elements with new style, in order to meet contemporary market demand. The sophistication of modern home furnishing pieces is guaranteed by the application of a modern design ethos to a product type with a millennial history.
Today, Sahrai are based in the same building as La Scala opera house in Milan. This is a unique location dedicated to contemporary rugs, with highly theatrical all-black interiors that highlight the exotic and evocative appearance of the luxury rugs. In fact the internal Design Studio, as well as creating prestigious and exclusive collections, offers a custom-made service which makes it possible for customers to personalize rugs in terms of design, dimensions and colour combination.
Sahrai's carpets and rugs are thus subdivided into a number of collections. The Heritage Antique collection comprises important pieces dating to the 18th century. These pieces are coveted by connoisseurs and collectors, and each carpet is sourced applying the Sahrai family's five generations' experience in selecting exclusive antique rugs.
Noor is a collection of exclusive handmade contemporary rugs designed in Italy, and made utilizing Tibetan master expertise. Valuable, traditional materials are used in carpets expressing a wholly modern visual style.

Taj-Mahal is an Indian-inspired collection based on large design motifs and innovative colours.
