PARIS — French couturier Christian Lacroix is one of many noteworthy fashion designers to delve into the world of home and furnishing design. His latest project is set to debut during Milan Design Week 'Salone del Mobile.' The furniture line is a collaboration with Sicis, a renowned mosaic art factory based in Ravenna, Italy. The 11 designs reflect Lacroix's penchant for baroque with flashes of colour, embellishment and far-flung historicalreferences.

“We mix something new and something old — like for brides,” says Lacroix.. “It’s between something very classic and contemporary. It’s very couture. I always love to mix and match something very popular — ethnic, folk, craft —with something very refined and deluxe.”

The collection — spanning chairs, sofas, tables, lamps and carpets pays homage to 18th and 19th century styles with a modern mix of leather and French brocade fabrics, enriched further with sparing use of Sicis’ famous mosaics.
