Mazokist by ArtofKinetik - head-turning mahogany day yacht Featured

Smaller sister craft to Hedonist, it shares the same extraordinarily good looks and high performance
by 14 March 2011

Like sister yacht Hedonist by ArtofKinetic this attractive day yacht expresses superb contemporary design, even though construction is traditional. It is made in mahogany, and crafting is so good that there is no sign of screws or rivets anywhere. Mazokist is 9.7 metres long (30 feet) and it is powered by two Yanmar &BY-260Z diesel engines with a Mercruiser stern drive that gives it a top speed of 42 knots. Design details include a bespoke helm wheel and an original cockpit table. Its timber construction - it is made of African mahogany - ensures a smooth ride even in a sturdy Mediterranean chop, and this is helped by the deep-vee cold-moulded vacuum-infused hull.
The price of Mazokist starts at €400,000, while that of Hedonist is about €2,500,000.

The yacht's DNA runs back to the 1920s day launch and to 1960s Riva motorboats, but brilliant design - the shipyard prides itself on utilizing industrial designers rather than boat designers to ensure real innovation - powers it into the 21st century. ArtofKinetik's timber construction means that bespoke construction is the standard, and different cockpit layouts, finish and engine options are possible. Each yacht requires a construction time of from six to ten months.
