Morgan has presented a preview of its new motor yacht which will be launched in summer 2010. The Morgan 55 Fast Commuter is a 17-metre yacht, and the entry-level yacht in the Fast Commuters series. This range is based on the classic motor launches that were used by New York tycoons on their transfers between Manhattan and Long Island.

The Morgan 55 Fast Commuter is therefore a coastal classic creation that transforms classical elements of style into a contemporary experience. Superb living comfort is accompanied by fine performance and state-of-the-art technology. It is available in the classic version and in a version with a flybridge. A distinctive feature of this craft is the "flair," the prow design that gives the Fast Commuter yachts unmistakable lines.

The Morgan 55 has two 800 HP MAN engines, which provide a cruising speed of 28 knots and top speed of 35 knots. The deck space is delectable for its period feel, with a large U-shaped seating arrangement towards the stern, a dining table, and a retractable canopy for valuable shade during the hottest times of day. If required, there is a stair to the upper bridge, which can be equipped with a second console and two large sunbeds.

In the saloon, interiors are based on the extensive use of timber, with fine detailing. There is a large L-shaped settee around a dining table which can seat up to eight people in complete comfort. There is a large furniture unit for drawers, LCD TV, and hi-fi equipment. The galley area is on the starboard side, and it is positioned so that it can be used conveniently both from the stern deck area and from the saloon. The interior galley includes sink, dishwasher, refrigerator and oven, while the exterior part has a grill, sink and freezer.

The sleeping area features all the classical style and comfort typical of the Morgan approach to fine yachts. On either side of the central corridor, there are two guest cabins, which can be fitted with twin or double beds and extensive cupboard spaces. There is a head on the port side. Further towards the bows is the main cabin, where space is optimized by means of intelligent cupboards and other small and large storage units. The owner has a private bathroom and a separate shower.

The Morgan brand was introduced in 1991 and purchased by the Aicon Group in 2007. Morgan specializes in the design, construction and marketing of yachts in the Dinghy, Lobster Boats and Fast Commuter types. All the boats are made in Italy, and their size ranges from 33 to 93 feet. These classic motor yachts represent a combination of classical fascination and modern construction technology, for an ultra-pleasant experience of marine luxury and performance.
