Gisele Bundchen - the new face of Chanel No 5

Gisele Bundchen takes over from Marilyn Monroe

Brazilian supermodel Gisele Bundchen, thanks to her natural beauty and modern femininity, is the new face of Chanel No. 5, first launched in 1921 by Gabrielle Chanel. Gisele is currently also the face of the brand’s Les Beiges make-up line, so it seems a perfect fit.

Gisele according to Forbes has been the world's highest-paid model for seven consecutive years, making 42 million dollars in the fiscal year ending June 2013.

Gisele follows in the footsteps of Nicole Kidman, Brad Pitt and Marilyn Monroe. She recently shot a video for the campaign in New York with film director Baz Luhrmann, the man behind the Nicole Kidman’s ‘I love to Dance’ commercial for Chanel in 2004 for which the Oscar-winning actress was said to have been paid a whopping 3.71 million dollars.

Unfortunately for the Australian actress, the four-minute commercial failed to impress the public and did little for the brand. Brad Pitt’s campaign was also a flop and received much criticism. His looks and charm failed to save the ad campaign and went on to become one of the worst commercials ever made.

Look out for the campaign scheduled to launch by the end of this year.
