Alexander McQueen's spring ready-to-wear collection is all about insects, flora, and nature. From cylindrical mesh headpieces that resemble beekeepers' hats to floral chiffon gowns, creative director Sarah Burton's designs successfully convey the fantastical aura of the fashion house yet again. Her use of mesh and honeycomb patterns, as well as black, gold, and nature tones, are evident throughout the collection and indicate an obvious source of inspiration: the honey bee. The designs were accented with miniature jeweled bees, detailed embroidery, oversized chokers, and tortoise shell. Victorian-inspired pieces, such as corsets and cage dresses, were also featured in the line.
