by Eleonora Betesh 25 January 2015

Dominating Milan’s Piazza della Repubblica, this impressive building has been the second home to international travellers and celebrities since it opened in the 1920s. Easily reachable from every point of the city, the Principe di Savoia lies is perfectly positioned close to numerous city attractions and the most exclusive districts of Milan.

At the Principe di Savoia, guests can expect an elegant and classic Milanese hotel. While the amenities are sleek and modern, there’s a great spirit of the past infused from ceiling to floor across the property, with crystal chandeliers in the lobby, ornate antique chests of drawers in the bedrooms and opulent drapes. Try room service for the ultimate decadence, with a spectacular minestrone soup, wheeled in by a courteous waiter. Imagine crisp, white linen tablecloths, sterling silver trays and a single stem rose sealing the order. The elegantly furnished rooms and signature hotel suites offer an unforgettable stay. Located on the top floor is the hotel's prestigious Presidential Suite which even has its own private swimming pool.

Indulge in the finest classic Italian cuisine and a diverse wine list in the elegant Acanto restaurant overlooking the hotel’s tranquil Italian garden. Led by chef Alessandro Buffolino, the gourmet kitchen features seasonal menus, and this FW 2017, guests should anticipate three unmissable experiences. Haute cuisine is the centerpiece while an exceptional wine menu defines the pace: nice and slow, and finely curated. On Sundays, Chef Buffolino stirs up quite the scene with an impressive Sunday Brunch with sweet and salty options, fresh catches of the day, an omlette couture made exactly the way you want it. Guests with children will appreciate special screenings and activities, and, to ensure they've covered all ground of entertainment from the plate to the simplest pleasure, a musical trio comprising the 'Italian Swing Frequency' will have background music taken care of.

For a memorable afternoon tea, while away a leisurely afternoon at Il Salotto. Celebrated architect and interior designer Thierry Despont has designed an incredibly opulent bar mixing original features with contemporary touches, making The Principe Bar one of Milan’s most popular bars, especially during Milan Fashion Week. This is not a hotel in stuck in the past and just a glimpse at the cocktail sipping brigade in the lounge confirms this. The hotel is definitely still one of the go to places on the Milan circuit.

Right next door is Club 10 Fitness and Beauty Center. Relax with a swim, sauna, steam, luxurious spa treatment, or simply take a seat on the roof terrace for views over the city.
