Gucci Spring / Summer 2012
Fashion Show Review and Backstage Accessby Alessia Sara Domanico
Gucci’s spring summer clothing trends had feathered flapper girls and ultra sleek socialites as the heroines for next season. Creative Director Frida Giannini used glamorous materials and flattering cuts to create a seductive and sensational new collection of petite evening suits with high waisted and wide trousers teamed with plunging classic blouses tucked into them. The colour palette was dark for a spring/summer show, but stunning nonetheless in emeralds, navys, blacks and golds. Virtually every cocktail dress looked like it had come straight out of the 1920s Art Deco period, styled in black, cream and gold hues using sequins, tassels and silks. Backstage we saw the makeup artists applying striking white lines over the model’s eyes to make them pop out down the catwalk. We were also fans of the clean slicked back ponytails that kept all the attention on the clothes.
