Chanel - the little black jacket
Ever wonder how it's made?
Alessia Sara Domanico
The Chanel black jacket, three little words that have long stood for excellence in
the world of sartorial womenswear. A style icon in itself that symbolizes success
and 'arrival,' marked by the very moment when you hang your very own in the
closet. To pay tribute to its signature piece, Chanel will release a special edition
book The Little Black Jacket this fall. It will feature photoshoots masterminded by
Creative Director Karl Lagerfeld and Carine Roitfeld and showcasing famous faces
like Uma Thurman, Sarah Jessica Parker, Elle Fanning and Alice Dellal wearing
the jacket, their way.

We headed to Chanel's atelier to see the creation of a little black jacket. Here
are some of the key steps in photos...
A WHITE SOUL - stitching the frame, inner pockets

IN THE CUT - cutting out the various black tweed parts of the jacket

LABELLING - stitching in that all-important Chanel label

BUTTONS'N BRAIDS - adding the final accents and details

FINISHED PRODUCT - et voilà!
