Alexander Wang - Spring 2013
A slice of fashion futurism
by Alessia Sara Domanico
NEW YORK - Alexander Wang spring/summer 2013 continues the visionary young designer's fashion forward march into new trend terrain. Severe cuts, sliced fabrics, straightlaced silhouettes and just the right amount of attitude set forth a very concentrated and balanced collection.

Of his deconstructed new line Wang commented on his approach explaining his desire to pull garments apart and "experiment with volumes." Definitely not for the demure, some revealing numbers appeared to float on the body as they came down the runway. How'd he do it? An invisible fish line (developed by Wang's team) embroidery holds the pieces of cut up fabric together.

There was also many a salute to sportswear with weather-resistant jackets, spongy shirts and smart footwear. Speaking of footwear, we hope the slinky gladiator sandals are part of the collection and not just a styling point for the fashion show.
