Three sights that represent evocative and unusual experiences.

Templo de Debod

Templo de Debod is a truly spectacular place to visit, particularly at sunset, while you are in Madrid. It is an ancient Egyptian temple originally built in southern Egypt in the 2nd century B.C. and it is in a location that offers impressive views over the city. The temple has a calming feel, and the fast changing colours reflected in its pools during sunset are not to be missed. Once night falls, it takes on a different character by virtue of the lovely lighting. It is certainly one of Madrid’s greatest treasures.

Mercado de Motores

If you are after visiting a unique market, el Mercado de Motores is certainly unusual and takes place in an original location. The former train station Estación de Delicias changes its appearance once a month into a place where people gather to enjoy the view of old trains alongside a fashionable market. More than 200 artists and designers get together to present their work, and you’ll be able to buy Spanish products, listen to live music and have a bite to eat at this evocative venue.

Palacio Real

The opulent royal palace has more than 2,000 rooms, of which 26 are open to the public. The themed rooms and banqueting halls are fascinating to walk through and give you a flavour of how the Spanish kings lived a few centuries ago. Enjoy a walk through the rooms with their ornate furniture, intricate tapestries, historic paintings and awe-inspiring ceramics. Make sure you also visit Campo del Moro, the palace gardens.
