The Connaught

Contemporary style meets classic character for the ultimate in five-star luxury

At the Connaught, contemporary style meets classic character. At the heart of fashionable Mayfair, it radiates a fascinating history and oozes style through its contemporary-classic design. Dedicated staff ensure your every whim is catered for, guaranteeing a wonderfully relaxed and luxurious stay. One of London’s most prestigious hotels , it has received the award of AA Hotel of the Year 2009-2010.
It has recently benefited from a delicate restoration. Today, modern art and up-to-date technology, along with faithfully restored period features, offer visitors ultimate comfort in a designer hotel in central London.
Its exclusive restaurant Hélène Darroze at the Connaught serves Michelin-starred food from one of France’s most celebrated chefs, Hélène Darroze. And with Balenciaga and Marc Jacobs flagship stores close by, the Connaught is the ideal base for a luxury shopping trip.

Suites & rooms
Classic and contemporary details blend effortlessly across all the suites and rooms, providing 21st century luxury in grand and sumptuous surroundings.
Rooms and suites have been recently refurbished by leading designer Guy Oliver, who has paid close attention to the formality, symmetry and simplicity of the Adam-style interiors. Walls have been painted in a range of period colours including peppermint green with silver leaf and Edwardian slate, while bold white bathrooms, in Grecian Thassos marble, reflect cleanliness and purity. Bespoke and inherited furniture has been chosen to mirror the individual character of each room or luxury suite and damask silk curtains have been chosen to frame the large wide windows in many of the rooms.
In the bathrooms, solid nickel taps and built-in vanity units are notes from the Deco period, while flat screen TVs above the enamelled cast iron baths are pure indulgence. Original artwork has been chosen for each Connaught suite and room based on its unique style – resulting in an impressive and eclectic collection.

All the Connaught hotel suites have been beautifully and uniquely restored, bringing them up-to-date with state-of-the-art technology while preserving their unique character. They include bespoke, hand-painted, spacious mahogany cupboards; beds dressed in luxury Pratesi Italian linen; writing desks inlaid with special hide; remote-controlled lighting; Bose SoundDock system; an endless supply of Bamford Natural and Organic pampering products; and damask curtains thickly interlined for undisturbed slumber.
From spacious Superior Junior Suites to the magnificent views from the Eagle’s Lodge and the Apartment, to private dining for 8 in a Sutherland Suite, the Connaught has a suite to provide everyone with the ultimate in luxury living while in London.
For example, The Eagle's Lodge is tucked high up on the sixth floor of the Connaught, a nautically-inspired suite ideal for relaxation or concentration in peaceful seclusion. The Eagle’s Lodge is designed to resemble the cabin of a luxury 1930s yacht. The fan of rooms is set on a slight curve, offering 270° views over the London skyline. With its crisp bed linen in white and Navy blue, porthole details and oil paintings of sailing ships, the Eagle’s Lodge transports you effortlessly away from the London bustle.

The Terrace Suite is a brand-new suite overlooking the largest terrace in Mayfair, stunningly landscaped by six-time Chelsea gold medallist Tom Stuart-Smith. The suite has its own private elevator access which opens onto a sky-lit black and white marble entrance hall. Double doors lead to a spacious living area with a specially commissioned travertine fireplace, hardwood floor, built-in library, working area and wet bar. Thus it makes the perfect choice for longer or extended stays.
It has a master bedroom with en-suite bathroom, an 89 square-metre landscaped terrace, authentic artwork by contemporary British painters, and a total floor space of 140 square metres.

The Connaught Bar in Mayfair
Ultra-stylish décor and mouth-watering cocktails put the Connaught Bar in Mayfair into a league of its own. The cocktail menu is a fusion of tradition and innovation, with exclusive vintages and limited edition champagnes, spirits and liqueurs. You cannot fail to be dazzled by the meticulous attention to detail that goes into making what you sip. The Coburg Bar in Mayfair
The Coburg Bar is a traditional London bar with a modern designer twist. Its interiors create a quiet, intimate, relaxed and inviting atmosphere. It was voted Best bar in London by Time Out Magazine in May 2008. Parisian designer India Mahdavi has merely added to the comfort of the Coburg Bar with her contemporary enhancements. The old Connaught wingback chairs are still there, but re-upholstered in velvet with black fringing. The rich burgundy, purple and mink colours of the seating complement the inviting wood-panelled interior, and black and white cameos by Julian Opie grace the panelling on either side of the fireplace.
This is a bar in which to enjoy fine wines, cognacs, champagne and expertly-made cocktails spanning three centuries. Even if you don’t have a cocktail, take a look at the Bacchanology menu, which provides a history lesson into the origins of each drink.
The Coburg Bar is open every day from 11 a.m. to 1 a.m., except on Sunday and Monday when it closes at 11 p.m.

Aman Spa London
The Aman Spa at the Connaught hotel is a luxury day spa hallmarked by an atmosphere of calm. It is a place to focus on your holistic wellbeing, with a perfect setting featuring candlelit treatment rooms, each with private dressing area and steam room, and a double treatment room for couples or friends. Ambient music is selected carefully for complete relaxation, enhanced by a herbal infusion before your treatment starts.
The Aman experience draws inspiration from ancient cultures and traditions to create revitalising treatments, such as massages, body treatments and healing therapies. A range of procedures are offered to reflect the wellness traditions of a number of Aman resorts’ locations, namely China, Thailand, India and the Americas.

As an example, the Americas-inspired treatment focuses on grounding the body energetically and physically using ancient Navajo techniques. Cleansing herbs such as sage and cedar help release muscular tension and promote a quiet mind and restorative sleep patterns. The differing moments of the treatment include a foot bath with Navajo herbs, cedar smudging, foot and leg grounding massage, red clay body wrap with Navajo herbs, river rock stone massage, and crystal clearing.
Also interesting are the shorter, quicker treatments such as the Aman spa “to-go” treatment, which gets you ready for your travels, loosening up your joints, shoulders, neck and back, and sending you off with a kit to help prevent jet-lag! This treatment is performed clothed, designed for a quick stop before you leave.
