St Pancras Renaissance Hotel London
An amazing Gothic fantasy, with premium facilities
The St. Pancras Renaissance London Hotel is a monument to Victorian romanticism. British poet John Betjeman called this magnificent Gothic building "too beautiful and too romantic to survive" in a world of tower blocks of concrete. But survived it has! It has been superbly restored, and today the spectacular exteriors and interiors are as dazzling as they were in 1873, when it first opened, in an inauguration in the presence of Queen Victoria. It was designed as a hotel by Sir George Gilbert Scott to receive travellers from St. Pancras Station. At that time, it was named the Midland Grand Hotel, and it offered guests luxury and fantasy. It had "ascending rooms" (lifts) and revolving doors, both highly innovative at the time.
The boutique hotel has 245 bedrooms, all with high speed internet, flat screen TVs and in-room safe. There are 38 superb Victorian suites with many period features, notably the high ceilings and tall windows. The Presidential Suite has three bedrooms and a luxurious lounge area. Guests in the London boutique hotel suites have personalized butler service and private club access.
The restaurants and lounges at the St. Pancras Renaissance include The Gilbert Scott, with English cuisine by Marcus Wareing, one of Britain's most famous chefs. Open for lunch and dinner, it offers a sophisticated bar and restaurant experience, with a menu that features many classic British recipes. Bookings +44 020 7278 3888.
