Maison Moschino

A deliciously ironic world of dreams

In the Luxos hotel review guide Maison Moschino is a new and refreshing addition to Milan's luxury establishments. As soon as you enter the lobby, you realize that you are stepping into another world, a universe of dream and fables. Moschino garments become floor-standing lighting appliances, and light, airy clouds hang from the ceiling, harmonizing with the fluffy sheep and armchair featuring the same type of construction. The rooms are extraordinary, all based on fable themes, such as the fantastic "Little Red Riding Hood" room in which a rather engaging wolf in the same textile as used for the counterpane is sitting on the bed. "Sleeping in a ballgown" is superb for its visual appeal, a red gown suspended from a giant hanger, becoming the bedhead and then the bed itself, in luxurious red textile.

Some of the rooms have an unusual mezzanine structure, with a lounge section in a gallery reached by a staircase within the room. The "Classic" rooms have an intimate atmosphere generated in part by the stories, and in part by their compact arrangement. Amenities for guests include flat-screen TV, international channels, air-conditioning, safe, minibar and phone, while the bathroom has a comprehensive kit of quality toiletries. There are other room types, moving up and right through to the spacious Junior Suites, furnished with references to Alice in Wonderland, with the Mad Hatter's top hat and other ironic touches. One of the hotel's many original features is the fact that all these personalized furnishings are for sale: if you like the wolf or sheep, you can purchase it! In the corridors, white strip lights are decorated by an infinity of keys, with the Moschino heart motif cut into the top.

This hotel is located in what was once a railway station, the terminus on the Milan-Monza line that was opened in 1840. The external façades of the building have been refurbished retaining the original features. The hotel is now an attractive feature in the city of Milan, with a beautifully-designed square that is fast becoming a favourite location on the high society scene by virtue of the hotel's restaurant, Clandestino Milano by the Michelin Starred Chef Moreno Cedroni.

Clandestino Milano restaurant
Renowned chef Moreno Cedroni attained fame with his Michelin two-starred restaurant "Madonnina del Pescatore" on the Adriatic coast near Ancona, and one of the most enchanting beach restaurants in Italy, Clandestino Susci Bar, which opened in 2000. ("Susci" is the Italian spelling for the pronunciation of sushi, and it is an apt name, because Cedroni serves his own Italian version of the Japanese speciality).

Culti spa and gym
The Culti spa and gym are on basement floors of the hotel. Like the rest of the hotel, Culti Spa provides guests with the opportunity to enter the world of dream, even in the more physical aspects of body care. Its unique interior design points can be seen from the spa's furnishings, with lavish textiles and carefully selected objects. The Spa offers a range of relaxing treatments in a sleek and contemporary atmosphere, providing moments - or hours - of sophisticated relaxation after the rigours of the day.
