J.K. Place Firenze

Understated luxury in a private retreat in Piazza Santa Maria Novella

With a perfectionist emphasis on quality, and a highly refined approach to visual design, J.K. Place is a rare hotel indeed. Located in the heart of Florence, in Piazza Santa Maria Novella, J.K. Place seems more like a home than a hotel, from the charming and unassuming entrance, to the air of discreet hospitality that enwraps every aspect of the place. With only 20 rooms, the hotel projects a level of intimacy unusual to public spaces. Breakfast is served daily in what was once the internal courtyard of the original building, while the newly opened lounge exhibits cool sophistication, and offers a chic place to socialize, drink and eat. The luxury continues onto the intimate and relaxing rooftop terrace, hidden within structured fabrics and line with North African-inspired long benches.

Architect Michele Bonan has created an elegantly masculine atmosphere of understated elegance, with just a hint of Britishness. Bonan is highly skilled in combining the finest elements from every era, as evidenced by the lounge area which combines 1950s lamps with a Charles X fireplace and a large neoclassical bookcase, all within the context of a black and white theme. .K. Place embraces an unprecedented level of detail in both its design and service, and for this it is no wonder that Travel + Leisure has ranked the hotel as one of its 500 Best Hotels in the world for 2010.

Rooms and Suites
Understated luxury pervades every aspect of the rooms and suites at J.K. Place.  Outfitted in soft tones of cream and grey, the rooms constitute individually-designed spaces with selected period décor from a variety of origins.  1940s and Chinese inspirations blend with wenge wood and polished steel to create an urban haven of superior quality.  Elegant wood paneling, a four poster bed and cabinet shower can be found in each of the classic rooms, along with state-of-the-art technology, including independent air conditioning, LCD TV, CD and DVD player.  The 2-floor Penthouse Suite boasts a terrace with incredible views, surpassed, perhaps, only by the view of the Brunelleschi cupola of Santa Maria del Fiore, visible from the strategically placed bathroom mirror.

J.K. Lounge
Chic sophistication surrounds guests at the J.K. Lounge, an exclusive bar and restaurant open from lunch to late at night.  Perfect for an aperitivo or post-theater drink, an elegant dinner or Sunday brunch, J.K. Lounge offers a wonderful range of wine and cocktails, along with a menu of organic Tuscan cuisine.  The downstairs Pink Room has a sexy edge, while the terrace opening onto the Piazza Santa Maria Novella is the perfect place to people-watch while enjoying an afternoon drink.
