InterContinental Madrid
An 18th century palace houses this impressive five-star hotel on Paseo de la Castellana
An 18th-century palace was the inspiration for InterContinental Madrid, which is situated on one of the city's most famed thoroughfares. Located in the cultural and business district, the hotel is just minutes from the Prado Museum, Thyssen-Bornemisza Museum, the Real Madrid Museum, Santiago Bernabéu Stadium, the elegant Serrano shopping street and the Royal Palace of Madrid.
Elegant, contemporary classic and functional. The rooms are composed of a lovely living room, a bedroom with two separated areas, and a large luxurious bath with shower separated from bathtub. Great views of the garden or Castellana St. and access to Club InterContinental Lounge. The international and Mediterranean menu of El Café features Spanish specialties served to the sounds of live piano and harp music, while El Jardín captures the spirit of Madrid in an intimate courtyard setting, the hotel's bar, Bar 49 offers specialty cocktails, local wines, sushi and tapas.
Bar 49
Once you’ve reached your saturation point at the Prado, or are exhausted by a fashion-filled day on Calle Serrano, take a break at Bar 49 in the stunningly beautiful Intercontinental Madrid. The 18th century palatial setting is ideal for enjoying a cocktail, afternoon tea, or snack from the sushi or tapas menu. Try the bar’s signature cocktail, the Rossini, a fantastic concoction of champagne and smashed strawberries. While the perfect setting for a pre-dinner aperitif, Bar 49 is also open late into the evening, when guests are encouraged to sample the vast selection of local wines.
El Jardín
In this venue featuring a lovely terrace, head chef José Luque prepares his reinterpretations of classic Spanish cuisine, with influences from international styles. Specialities include seafood, sushi show cooking, Ibericos Spanish ham, and superb home-made desserts. The restaurant runs regular culinary events, such as Ladies' Night every Thursday (the menu includes a Cosmopolitan, and a gift from jewellery brand Carrera y Carrera). Sunday Brunch has become a favourite in the city. One tip: don't miss cocktails at Bar 49, before or after your meal, to the sounds of piano music.
