Hotel des Etrangers et Miramare

A magnificent hotel overlooking the harbour of Syracuse in Sicily. Five floors with an irregular floor plan, reflecting the city's mediaeval origins. Balconies have decorative ironwork and stone columns, and the overall style recalls early 20th century splendour and the characteristically Sicilian version of Neoclassical architecture. Inside the hotel, there are fine marble floors, and walls and ceilings in stucco and gilded friezes. The hall features an antique bronze chandelier. Nearly all the rooms look onto the sea and Porto Grande. On the top floor, the restaurant has superb panoramic views over the rooftops of Ortigia and the sea, particularly evocative while the sun is setting. Facilities include a conference hall with over three hundred seats, a reception hall, and a wellness centre which will be opening soon.
